Giuseppe Boaretto - Poet and Painter
Giuseppe Boaretto was born in Galzignano and has been living and working in Montegrotto Terme for fifty years.
He is a self-taught painter who loves poems by Höederling, Leopardi, Petrarch, Shakespeare, Campana and Dickinson. Giuseppe Boaretto has always been very consistent and productive in painting. Since he was very young, he has dedicated himself to painting and, over time, he has developed his technique of using light and colour.
In 1983, he met the poet Mario Luzi at the Theatre Antoniano dei Gesuiti in Padua; the poet listened to his poem "Occhi neri" and encouraged Giuseppe to continue writing poems.
In the 1990’s he attended the Sommer Academy in Salisburg, where he worked with important personalities such as the famous photographer and painter Henri Cartier-Bresson who was a colleague of his and also a friend as they exchanged letters of affection and esteem. He also would meet Emilio Vedova, who praised his painting ability.
In 2000, "La Stampa " published his poem "Piccole stelle" presented by Igor Man.
Giuseppe Boaretto does not paint portrait figures or real landscapes, but instead paints landscapes and figures of his soul through poetry that becomes brightly colourful with a fast and intense trait.
