Euganean Thermal Water
A resource unique in the world
The thermal water of the Abano and Montegrotto Terme spa basin belongs to a category of deep underground waters.
Its preciousness comes from the long journey it makes.
Thermal water comes from the unpolluted basins of the Lessini Mounts in the Pre-Alps and flows underground through calcareous rock up to 2,000-3,000 meters deep.
Water is kept at high temperatures and under high pressure for an average period of 25-30 years during which it collects mineral salts. Finally, water reaches the spa basin of Abano-Montegrotto, where it gushes at a temperature of 87° C. The great deal of substances dissolved in water makes this salt-bromine-iodine hyperthermal water a unique resource in the world.
The extraordinary therapeutic qualities of water and thermal mud of Abano and Montegrotto Terme means that their extraction and use undergoes strict regulations to allow for the natural renovation of this resource.
