Inhalation treatments

The salt-bromine-iodine thermal water of the Euganean Baths has a targeted and antiseptic effect on the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, fluidizing the mucus, stimulating the mucociliary bronchial apparatus and improving the efficiency of the excretory mechanisms. For these reasons, thermal inhalation cures are an excellent natural remedy for preventing respiratory diseases and a real remedy for all forms of chronic airway inflammation.

The special equipment of the thermal system at Hotel Terme Millepini breaks down the thermal water into particles of different sizes, making it an effective treatment for all acute and chronic diseases of the entire lower and upper respiratory tract.

The cycle of inhalation cures is always preceded by a medical examination, during which the doctor determines which means are most necessary to respond to the pathology to be treated.

As a rule, the cycle of inhalation treatment consists of 24 treatments, carried out over 12 days, twice a day with a break of 15 or 20 minutes between each treatment.

Depending on the pathology to be treated, the doctor may also recommend additional treatments at the admission examination.

During the inhalation treatments it is recommended to follow some simple guidelines:

  • the treatment must always be from the wettest to the driest;
  • between a cure and the other it is necessary to make a pause of minimum 15 - 20 minutes;
  • during inhalation treatments, you breathe normally and, when possible, with your mouth closed.

In rare cases, a so-called thermal crisis can occur during a cure, which is manifested by a brief flare-up of the pathology; in this case, just contact the hotel doctor and stop the cures for 3 or 4 days.

At the Hotel Terrme Millepini, thermal water is used for different treatments depending on the pathology to be treated. Below are the treatments performed in our inhalation department:

  • Inhalations

This treatment consists of a jet of steam and is very often considered a preparatory treatment for the other treatments due to the vasodilating properties of the hot steam; it is ideal for treating all pathologies of the upper respiratory tract such as the nose, throat, larynx, trachea and large bronchi, as it prepares the mucous membranes for other inhalation treatments that use smaller water particles such as aerosol and humage.

The thermal water flowing in the device is drawn in by a component whose task is to break it down into particles of 10 - 12 µ in size to form a wet jet at a temperature of around 38°C. Each session lasts about 10-12 minutes and the patient only has to sit in front of this jet, at a distance of about 25 cm and breathe normally, preferably with their mouth closed.

  • Aerosols

Similar to inhalation, aerosols use flowing water apparatus that, through the use of compressed air, suck up and fry thermal water into very small particles, approximately 2 - 4 µ. The water comes out of the device at a temperature of around 28 to 30 degrees and is inhaled by the patient through a mask, either orally by covering the nose and mouth, or nasally by inserting a prong into the nasal cavity. It is a therapy that acts on the upper and lower respiratory tract and extends to the alveoli. It lasts from 5 minutes on the first day and gradually increases to 11 minutes on the last day.
